Iran’s Two-Front Strategy

editor 17 July 2018

By Tony Badran.. With simmering conflicts on the Golan and in Gaza, Tehran looks to strip Israel of its strategic advantages. Israel is about to face two active fronts on its borders: one in Gaza, and the other in the Golan Heights. As factions in Gaza fired rockets at Israel, an offensive of the alliance backing the Assad regime was underway in southern Syria, which is likely to reach the Golan soon. While this might appear as random coincidence, it’s more by design: The escalating attacks from Gaza should be seen as part of a coordinated Iranian strategy. Mullahs want to fly 300 million euros in cash from Germany to Iran

editor 16 July 2018

By Nikolaus Blome and Antje Schippmann.. This plan will probably lead to serious diplomatic difficulties between Germany, the US, and Israel.

According to information available to BILD, the Iranian regime intends to fly 300 million euros in cash from Germany to Iran. The background is that, in the coming months, strict US sanctions against the Iranian financial sector will come into effect. The mullahs are worried that they will run out of cash. Iran’s justification for their plan says that they need the money “to pass it on to Iranian individuals who, when travelling abroad, are dependent on euros in cash due to their lack of access to accepted credit cards”. Gaza’s financial crisis is sending Hamas back into the arms of Iran

editor 16 June 2018

By Avi Issacharoff..  A special iftar feast was held in Gaza City last Thursday (June 7, 2018) at the end of the day’s Ramadan fast, marking the annual Quds (Jerusalem) Day — an event initiated by Iran in 1979 to express support for the Palestinians and oppose Zionism and Israel. During the event, dinner was served to families of killed and injured Gazans, in a manner similar to many other iftar meals. Nonetheless, what made Thursday’s (June 7, 2018) event different was the Iranian sponsorship: The event was marked and celebrated in order to send a message of appreciation and respect to Iran. It was paid for by the Tehran regime. [Photo top right: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei meeting in Tehran with Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip Ismail Haniyeh. The Four Scenarios Facing Israel as the U.S. Withdraws From the Iran Deal

editor 15 June 2018

By Amos Yadlin and Ari Heistein.. President Trump’s decision to depart the JCPOA leaves Israel to try to advance its strategic objectives across a very different geopolitical landscape. President Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal has left Israel to reassess its policy toward Iran—and how to advance its key national-security objectives: preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, thwarting Iran’s aspirations for hegemony, changing the fundamentally hostile and radical orientation of the regime, and preventing future military conflict. Trump’s North Korean Strategy is Terrifying Iran

editor 12 June 2018

By Caroline Glick.. The North Korean media reported Sunday (June 3, 2018) that Syrian President Bashar Assad is due in Pyongyang for an official state visit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. Much of the instant media commentary regarding the announcement claimed that it is nothing more than a testament to the deep, long-standing ties between the two isolated nations, whose rogue behavior has caused both to be shunned by the international community. Iran’s Dilemma: Respond to Israeli Actions in Syria with Terror Attacks Abroad?

editor 4 June 2018

By Yoram Schweitzer.. In view of the public promise by senior Iranian spokespersons that Israel would soon weep over its soldiers just as Iran mourned its soldiers, it remains to be seen if and how Iran will retaliate against Israel’s recent broad counter-attack against Iranian targets in Syria: with what intensity, with what method, and in what location. Russia as Restraining Factor in the Iranian-Israeli Confrontation in Syria

editor 1 June 2018

By Zvi Magen, Vera Michlin-Shapir and Udi Dekel..  INSS Insight No. 1062, May 29, 2018. Given the recent escalation between Iran and Israel in Syria and the development of a direct confrontation between them, the question of the Russian position arises: Is Russia trapped between hawkish factors and being forced, against its will, to position itself as a restraining force or can it benefit from an Israeli-Iranian confrontation, especially as it still controlled and limited?
